What if it rains?

Cairns has a tropical climate with the monsoon or rainy season running between November and March. Our tours will still run on wet days. Please dress according to the weather conditions. In the unlikely event of extreme weather conditions, such as a cyclone, we will cancel your tour and offer an alternative tour or full refund.

What if it’s very hot?

During the monsoon season, which runs from November to March the average daytime temperature is 28 degrees Celsius (82 degrees Fahrenheit). However even in the cooler months of June to August daytime temperatures can reach 22 degrees Celsius (72 degrees Fahrenheit). Please dress according to weather conditions and wear a sunhat and sunscreen when the sun is out.

Is there a minimum and maximum group size?

The minimum group size is two people and the maximum group size is eight people. If you happen to be the only person who books a certain tour, we will offer you an alternative tour or full refund. If your party has more than eight people, we can still accommodate you by arranging a private tour.

Where does the tour start?

All our tours start at Anzac Memorial Park. This is located on Spence Street, between Abbott and Wharf Streets in the CBD. This park is right next to the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino which as a large glass domed roof, so we are easy to find.

Where does the tour end?

Each tour ends in a different place; however, all tours end in the city area and your host will ensure you know how to find your way back to your hotel or suggest other places to explore.

How do I recognise the tour host?

Our tour hosts wear a black shirt with the Cairns Boutique Walking Tours logo and will be waiting for you at the designated meeting point.

How do I book a tour?

Simply follow the booking link on this website. If you’d like to book a private or corporate tour, please follow the link for private and corporate tours and we can design a tour just for you. Payment must be made in full at time of booking.

Can I do more than one walking tour on the same day?

Yes, you can do more than one of our tours on the same day. We offer morning, afternoon and evening tours.

Are the tours suitable for children?

We love having children on our tours, however, think that children over the age of twelve will get more from our tours than younger children. We do not offer a child’s price for our standard tours. If you do have children in your group, we would be happy to arrange a suitable private tour that will keep all members of the family happy. Babies are also welcome, but due to the limited space in some of the places we visit, we suggest using a wearable baby carrier instead of a stroller. Our Uncover Hidden Bars tour is for adults only – strictly 18 tears and over.

We ask that all children be accompanied by a responsible adult. In some venues alcohol tasting may be offered. Australian law states only people aged 18 years and over can consume alcohol. Those under 18 years will be offered an alternative wherever possible.

Are the tours suitable for someone in a wheelchair?

We are happy to accommodate people using wheelchairs. Please let us know if you use a wheelchair or have other mobility requirements. We welcome people of all abilities. We can often provide you with a better experience on a private tour where we can accommodate your unique needs.

What time should I arrive at the meeting point?

Please make sure you are at the correct meeting point ten minutes prior to the tour starting time.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. We will be spending time outside, so a hat and sunscreen may also be needed. Bring your camera so you can capture some of the special moments along the way.

Do I need to bring a printed ticket?

We do not require printed tickets. If you have made a booking, we will be expecting you.

Do I have to book in advance?

Yes, you do need to book into our tours because numbers are strictly limited, and we don’t want you to miss out.

What language will the tour host speak?

Your tour host will speak English.

What happens if I am late or miss my tour?

Unfortunately, we cannot wait for late comers and you will miss your tour if you are late. We do not provide a refund if you miss your tour. However, please contact us by email or phone and we will try to accommodate you on another tour.

What is included on the tour?

All food and beverages are included in the price of the tour.

Do I need a high level of fitness to join the tour?

Whilst we certainly won’t be racing our way through the city we do walk at a moderate pace and cover a fair distance. This will however be broken up with plenty of breaks at venues. Moderate fitness is recommended.

What if I have special dietary requirements?

We endeavour to make your tour as accessible as possible so please let us know of any special requirements at the time of booking so we can try to accommodate you.

Changes and Cancellations

Any changes to your booking must be made at least 48 hours prior to the tour. If you cancel before 48 hours you will receive a full refund. If cancellation occurs after this time unfortunately the payment will be forfeited.

In the unlikely event that our company makes changes or cancellations you will receive advanced notice by phone or email. If our company cancels a tour you will receive a full refund or be offered an alternative tour.
